We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our NICU team on the night shift in Weymouth, MA. The ideal candidate will support nursing needs at the Level III Messina Family NICU and the Level II Andrade Family Special Care Nursery, delivering care for babies born at any time in pregnancy who have a wide range of medical conditions. You will work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists in the care of ill, premature, and recovery newborns. This is an on-site role with rotating weekends and holiday coverage offering an hourly pay range of $38.20 - $77.39.
Responsibilities:
● Administer, transcribe, record, and reconcile medications, demonstrating knowledge of and following SSH policies and procedures
● Develop, evaluate, and update individualized plans of care for patient and family and document outcomes
● Document all patient care following the department of nursing policy, unit-based standards, disease processes (CHF, PNA vaccines), and nurse sensitive indicators (falls, skin, CAUTI)
● Assess and document patient's level of comfort utilizing the appropriate pain scale and the patient's response to both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
● Verify patient identification with two identifiers prior to the start of any invasive procedure, including "time out", administration of care, medications, labeled specimens, and documents confirming the correct patient, procedure, site, equipment, and consent
● Foster a ‘Culture of Safety’ through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment
● Obtain at least 5 contact hours per year in area of practice and assume overall responsibility for professional development by incorporating evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement initiatives as a part of ongoing nursing practice
● Collaborate with the patient and family according to patient preferences in planning, implementing, and evaluating care, and welcome the presence and participation of family members at all times, regardless of rounds, shift changes, or other on-unit events
Qualifications:
● Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
● 3-5 years of NICU hospital care experience required; previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
● A combination of the following American Heart Association certifications may be required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; Emergency Response Training certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification; Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC); Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification
● Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, patient advocacy, multi-tasking, and time management in high-stress environments
