Building Attendant
Recreation Department
The Village of Western Springs is accepting applications to fill a part-time Building Attendant position in the Recreation Department.
Key Responsibilities
The Building Attendant’s primary duty is to provide a visible, accessible, and responsive presence at the facilities operated by the Recreation Department. The position requires an incumbent to be continually aware of individuals entering, leaving and participating in the various programs, activities and events taking place in the assigned building. The incumbent will secure all exterior doors by locking the doors each day at closing time. The Building Attendant is responsible to take appropriate action per department and Village policies concerning matters involving individual’s safety and well-being, program setup/clean up, and custodial needs of the building. Work shifts include weekday evenings, weekends and holidays. This position works with limited or no direct supervision during the shift; however, all work is directed by the Recreation Administrative Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow the basic cleaning schedule as outlined in Building Attendant Daily Responsibilities.
- Ability to follow direction given to secure all exterior doors and lock the buildings at closing time.
- Ability to provide the highest quality customer service to both external and internal customers.
- Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid or able to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- A valid IL Class “D” driver’s license.
Physical Demands/ Work Conditions
While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently walk, stand, sit, drive, type, and work at a computer. Normally, work hazards are not common, though care should be taken in the field. This position requires the ability to perform duties in adverse working conditions. The employee will be required to occasionally lift or carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and push or pull up to one hundred pounds. Occasional performance of overhead work, bending stooping, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and squatting are required.
Normal shift hours could Monday – Friday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and weekends from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Shifts are subject to change due to facility usage. The work shifts are shared among other Building Attendant.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly salary range is $15.50- $17.50.
