Transportation Supervisor – Roanoke, TX

Schedule: Monday – Friday
Shift: Overnight 9:00 PM - 6:00/7:00 AM
Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 per year
Position Summary
A growing transportation operation in Roanoke, TX is seeking an experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee PM-shift transportation operations and provide leadership and support to drivers.
This position will serve as a key point of contact between drivers, operations, maintenance, customer service, and management, helping ensure safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Driver Management
- Conduct driver check-ins and monitor daily transportation activities.
- Communicate with drivers and resolve delays, operational issues, and service concerns.
- Monitor routes, driver activity, and key operational exceptions.
- Support drivers with day-to-day operational needs.
- Ensure smooth execution of transportation operations throughout the PM shift.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor pre-trip and post-trip compliance requirements.
- Ensure vehicle defects are properly documented and addressed.
- Participate in and/or lead safety meetings and required training.
- Promote a strong safety culture focused on defensive driving, accountability, and incident prevention.
Equipment & Yard Management
- Monitor equipment availability and communicate breakdowns and maintenance needs.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient yard environment.
- Ensure safe traffic flow and proper equipment movement.
- Coordinate with maintenance and operations leadership when equipment issues impact service.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the PM Transportation Supervisor and primary point of contact for drivers during the shift.
- Coordinate with operations, customer service, maintenance, and management.
- Provide clear shift handoff communication regarding outstanding issues and priorities.
- Respond promptly to service disruptions, delays, safety concerns, and customer-impacting events.
- Escalate critical operational or safety issues when necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or logistics/transportation training preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or warehouse operations.
- Previous lead, supervisory, dispatch, or driver management experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation safety requirements.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), dispatch platforms, or similar technology preferred.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of transportation operations and driver coordination.

Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse and yard environment with exposure to noise, weather conditions, and moving equipment.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely climb in and around tractors and trailers.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work the assigned PM shift and maintain schedule flexibility based on operational needs.
