At Mitzvah Circle, we think differently about people in need. We support individuals and families experiencing poverty, homelessness and serious illness, serving people walking along life’s edge by providing individualized material support, case management and coaching.
Mitzvah Circle is a volunteer-based organization, which makes our Volunteer Group Leadership Intern a key role in our operations. You will be working along with our Volunteer Coordinators to train individual volunteers, help coordinate groups of volunteers, and help schedule volunteers as well as maintain the positive environment that is an important part of Mitzvah Circle’s culture.
This position is great for learning non-profit operations, as well as developing leadership and public speaking skills.
The job includes working with people of all ages and abilities.
Specific responsibilities include:
· Provide guidance and instruction to volunteers regarding Mitzvah Circle processes
· Lead volunteers and volunteer groups in how to select appropriate items, select appropriate items items for families requesting our assistance, learn how to personalize services and how to document your work
· Nurture relationships with volunteers
· Able to utilize technology platforms which may include Salesforce, Text Magic and our Volunteer Management System
· Works closely with other staff, volunteers, interns and teen ambassadors
· Pack for families and organizations especially times of light numbers of volunteers
· Help unloading trucks and organizing warehouse as needed when large shipments arrive
· Special projects as assigned
Qualifications include:

- Enthusiasm, desire to teach others
- Very strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
Students must have completed at least their sophomore year with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
You will be part of a cohort of approximately 10 interns across different areas, so you will have collaborative opportunities with other students as well as our employees and volunteers.
This is an in-person position. All internships are at 435 Doylestown Road, Lansdale, PA . You will need your own transportation. We are not able to provide drop-off or pick-up from the train station. We will do background checks on all interns.
The internship is for a minimum of 9 hours a week (3 shifts) from these options:
Monday through Friday 9:00-12:00
Monday through Thursday 12:00-3:00.
The internship starts the week of August 24th, and you need to commit to stay through December 11th even if you complete required hours sooner.
We will pay a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the internship. We are happy to work with students toward academic credit and can work to accommodate your school requirements.
