Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Fleet Safety Coordinator/Mechanic to ensure our vehicle fleet is always in compliance with DOT/OSHA safety standards, and perform or oversee repairs to keep our fleet running optimally with in-house mechanics and/or vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair fleet vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and manage repair schedules to reduce breakdowns.
- Perform safety inspections and ensure vehicles comply with DOT and company standards.
- Track and document maintenance, inspections, and repair records.
- Coordinate with drivers to schedule vehicle servicing and address reported issues.
- Implement and monitor fleet safety programs, including driver safety training and compliance checks.
- Investigate vehicle incidents or breakdowns and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment needed for maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in over-the-road repairs while in transit to delivery destinations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a fleet mechanic or automotive/diesel technician.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle safety standards, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills for gas, diesel, and light mechanical systems.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid Class-A driver’s license
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
