Job Description:
As our Director of Development, you will lead the organization’s fundraising strategy and donor relations, growing and stewarding a diverse portfolio of support to secure stable, multi-year funding that directly addresses financial volatility and sustains continuous programming.
Working closely with the leadership team and a dynamic cohort of youth leaders and facilitators, you will directly support the scaling of our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program and help cultivate the next generation of youth leaders. Through strategic partnership-building, thoughtful donor engagement, and values-aligned fundraising, you will ensure our programs have the resources needed to create lasting community impact.
Key Responsibilities : Leads fundraising strategy and donor relations to secure stable multi-year funding, directly addressing financial volatility and supporting continuous programming.
- Own the result of the implementation of our yearly fundraising plan and annual budget goal.
- Build and cultivate new relationships with individual/major donors, grant-making organizations, corporate sponsors, and stakeholders.
- Research strategic key events and opportunities to increase awareness for the Rebels for Peace.
- Steward an existing database of donors, sponsors, and partners, and create and implement a communication plan to regularly communicate with donors and staff via email, phone, or social media.
- Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and databases.
- Work closely with founders and leadership team to ensure efficient follow-through between strategic plan and fundraising plan.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for development, finance, and program departments to ensure effective impact tracking
- Support in Grant research, writing, and reporting.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising, partnership development, communications, nonprofit, and/or client account management.
- Commitment to championing diversity: ideas, age, race, gender, and socio-economic background.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Operational leadership experience, including financial management, program development, and team supervision.
- Fundraising experience in a nonprofit or similar setting, with a proven track record of securing funding through donations, grants and/or corporate sponsorships.
- Efficient time management skills: ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to solve problems while also engaging and inspiring diverse stakeholders.
- Thrives in a diverse, youthful, high energy, entrepreneurial, fast-changing environment.
- Roots in Chicago and a passion for driving positive change in our community.
- Experience working with youth or in education is a plus.

Our core Programs are:
1. Mini Rebels for Peace, A resilience and Social Emotional Learning program that's delivered in elementary schools with over 700 youth per year.
2. The Rebels for Peace Youth leadership program is a 6-week leadership and youth employment program that runs during the summer months. Our unique youth mentorship and social-emotional education model has proven effective, and our organization is in a period of expanding its operations and sustainability.
