JOB
This is an exempt position responsible for administrative and technical work involving software applications, security programs, reporting, system maintenance, and user support. The employee in this classification analyzes requests, develops programming solutions, and participates in the implementation and maintenance of enterprise software systems.
The employee exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment regarding practices and procedures, and may coordinate project activities, system upgrades, and vendor support while ensuring systems remain reliable and secure. Work may include supporting systems used within a law enforcement environment and handling sensitive information in accordance with established operational and security requirements. Work is performed under the general direction of the Information Technology Director.
Employees are hired as AT-WILL employees who serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Analyzes, designs, and programs requested modifications to existing software applications.
Assists in programming implementation and testing of new software application programs.
Assists in system upgrades and the addition of new software tools and programs.
Performs periodic system maintenance functions on software applications utilizing Change Management best practices.
Coordinates and participates in project planning and implementation activities, demonstrating the ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and effectively communicate project status, issues, requests, and solutions to stakeholders.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of system and end-user documentation, including how-to guides and operational procedures.
Ensures compliance with the City code and procurement policies and procedures by reviewing and monitoring procurements conducted by any designee, department or official.
Performs related work as required and as directed. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION This is a designated "Recovery" classification in the City's Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
