Position summary: Summer Youth Job Coaches are individuals who specialize in assisting youths ages 14-18 with various disabilities during specified programming such as Career Exploration and Work Experience. Job Coaches will be supervising and acting as aides in a classroom setting and on tours of various employment facilities during Career Exploration. During Work Experience, Job Coaches will actively monitor, assess, and assist program participants in a simulated work environment in a Goodwill store and/or other places of businesses outside of Goodwill. Summer Youth Job Coaches are required to document and report observations on case notes and reports.
Essential functions:
- Develop Individualized Program Plans for on-the-job training strategies based on participants needs and chosen vocational goals, implement direct instruction for consumers on the work site, including, but not limited to: specific skill training, adjustment to the work environment, and appropriate social interaction with co-workers.
- Review performance in relation to program plan, assess progress, and revise plan as necessary with input from the participants, their referring counselor, and/or their support team as applicable.
- Assure community based assessments, vocational programming and consumer progress are documented and reports are completed according to procedural guidelines and CARF standards.
- Promote adjustment to the work environment by assuring that the participants work-related needs are met and that his/her rights and dignity are safe-guarded.
- Provide transportation to and from work site for participants.
- Attend safety trainings and follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and supervised work environment for all employees at all times.
Qualifications and required skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in a social services field preferred.
- Experience working directly with individuals in the rehabilitative or developmental disabilities field; must demonstrate compassion, patience and commitment to working with Goodwill population.
- Strong problem solving skills, adaptability and time management skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pass a criminal background screen/fingerprint check.
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record, proof of current automobile insurance and reliable transportation required.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred.
