OVERVIEW
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 standards, customer requirements, and company objectives. This position oversees all quality assurance and quality control functions to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, train, coach, and develop Quality Department personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Establish departmental goals and monitor performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Analyze quality metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain the internal audit schedule.
- Conduct and oversee internal quality audits.
- Coordinate customer audits, registrar audits, and regulatory audits.
- Lead investigations of internal and external quality issues alongside Operations Manager and Engineering.
- Manage corrective and preventive action programs.
- Conduct root cause analysis utilizing methods such as 5-Why and other problem-solving techniques.
- Administer the Nonconforming Material Report (NCMR) process.
- Determine disposition of nonconforming materials in conjunction with Engineering and Management
- Analyze trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure quality data within Rover (ERP) is accurate, complete, and maintained.
- Oversee receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspection activities.
- Ensure inspection priorities and workflow are effectively managed.
- Verify inspection records and quality documentation are completed accurately.
- Support inspection personnel in resolving technical and quality-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with customer drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
- Oversee the use and maintenance of inspection equipment and measuring devices.
- Maintain and continuously improve the ISO9001 Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and related documentation.
- Manage document control and quality record retention processes.
- Cross-train in other departmental functions as needed.
- Participate on company committees and improvement teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality processes and inspection methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Knowledge of GD&T preferred.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, sampling methods, and statistical process controls.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Strong leadership and employee development skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems, preferably Rover.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish, preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience maintaining an ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System required.
- Internal Auditor certification preferred.
- ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) preferred.
- Experience in metal manufacturing, machining, plating, or related industries strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and use hands to handle equipment and documents.
- Frequently required to inspect products on the manufacturing floor.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
- May be exposed to machinery, airborne particles, fumes, noise, and chemicals associated with manufacturing operations.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Pay: $77,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
