Job Overview
The School Outreach Manager supports and empowers educators across Indiana through professional development, instructional resources, and ongoing partnership to strengthen civic education in the classroom. This position builds relationships with schools and districts to expand and deepen participation in the Indiana Bar Foundation’s civic education programs, including We the People, Indiana High School Mock Trial, and Indiana Kids Election. This position will also drive the implementation of broader statewide initiatives such as the Indiana Excellence in Civic Engagement Designations for students and schools. The Manager plays a central role in advancing educator engagement and program integration and building systems that support sustainable growth in civic learning statewide. This is a 35-hour/week position, occasionally requiring evening or weekend hours. Travel around the state is required with some national travel possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a comprehensive school and educator engagement strategy to strengthen relationships with districts, increase participation, and support long-term program growth.
- Lead the strategic implementation and statewide expansion of the Indiana Excellence in Civic Engagement Designations for students and schools, including developing systems, timelines, trainings, support materials, compliance processes, and reporting protocols.
- Direct and execute targeted outreach efforts to expand access to civic education programs, identify and engage underserved regions, and drive statewide adoption.
- Oversee the integration and expansion of programs by developing pathways for schools to deepen involvement in We the People, Mock Trial, Indiana Kids Election, and related initiatives.
- Lead the development and delivery of educator training and support, including professional development opportunities, toolkits, and technical assistance aligned with program goals.
- Manage and continuously improve systems for tracking participation, designation progress, and program outcomes, using data to inform strategy, evaluate impact, and guide decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Engagement Manager and civic education leadership to align school engagement strategies with volunteer capacity and program delivery needs.
- Partner with Marketing to guide outreach strategy and messaging, ensuring alignment with program goals and effective communication to educators and stakeholders.
- Represent the Foundation as a statewide leader in civic education, building partnerships and serving as a primary point of contact in meetings, conferences, and convenings.
- Drive the development of internal systems, processes, and tools that improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability of school partnership and outreach efforts.
- Lead cross-program initiatives and strategic projects that advance civic education priorities and support department-wide goals.
- Oversee stakeholder experience and communication, ensuring timely, professional, and high-quality engagement with educators, participants, volunteers, and partners.

Experience, Abilities, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in education, program management, public policy, or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines with precision and efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and operational organization.
- Effective relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting data to support program implementation, evaluation, and decision-making preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to responsive service, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of constituents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage work independently while collaborating effectively across teams, exercising initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, project management software, and CRM/database tools preferred.

Salary and Benefits
Salary for this position is commensurate with education and job experience, planned for $55,000-$60,000. The Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including insurance premium coverage for medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, employer HSA contributions, 10% employer 401(k) contributions, hybrid work schedule, and four weeks paid time off.
