Industrial Maintenance Supervisor (Working Supervisor)

Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising maintenance personnel while actively performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment installations, and continuous improvement activities. The supervisor ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production equipment, facility systems, and utilities while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
This position is expected to spend a significant portion of time on the production floor performing mechanical and electrical work, diagnosing equipment failures, sourcing replacement parts, managing vendors, and supporting production operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, schedule, and develop maintenance technicians.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and automation issues.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production emergencies.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and work orders.
- Maintain equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Source, quote, purchase, and track maintenance parts, supplies, and services.
- Establish and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
- Manage maintenance inventory and critical spare parts.
- Review and approve maintenance-related purchases within budget guidelines.
- Support equipment installations, facility upgrades, and capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, GMP, HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA, and company food safety requirements.
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment histories, and PM documentation.
- Enforce safety policies including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Coordinate contractor activities and verify quality of work.
Qualifications
- 5+ years industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years supervisory or lead maintenance experience preferred.
- Food processing, poultry, meat, frozen foods, or packaging experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with conveyors, packaging equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and production machinery.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience with CMMS systems preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
