Schedule: Day Shift – 3x12 Hours (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate, individualized patient care within an inpatient behavioral health setting. The ideal candidate will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, administer treatments and medications, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and safety in a therapeutic environment.
- Assess patient needs through data collection and clinical evaluation
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments accurately according to established policies and procedures
- Monitor and document patient responses to medications and interventions
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences and patient care discussions
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic patient care environment
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary treatment teams
- Document patient information accurately and within required timeframes
- Provide patient education and support related to treatment plans and behavioral health goals
- Support crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and de-escalation techniques when necessary
- Adhere to patient confidentiality, safety, and behavioral health protocols
- Float to inpatient behavioral health units as needed to support patient care operations
- ASN required
- BSN preferred
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License or Multi-State Compact License
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- 3 years preferred
- Inpatient Behavioral Health experience required
- Float Pool experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health nursing assessments and interventions
- Experience with:
- Suicide assessment and prevention
- CIWA and Narcotics Withdrawal Scales
- Abuse, neglect, and domestic violence assessments
- Pain and fall risk assessments
- Medication administration including oral, IM, subcutaneous, inhalation, insulin, and PRN medications
- CPR, AED use, emergency response procedures, and incident reporting
- Seclusion, restraint, and behavioral crisis protocols
- Ability to maintain therapeutic milieu and establish therapeutic boundaries
- Effective 1:1 patient interaction and de-escalation skills
- Knowledge of patient rights, confidentiality, chart documentation, and advanced directives
- Strong communication, teamwork, and cultural competency skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency with required documentation systems
- Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced inpatient behavioral health environment
- Must demonstrate safe patient handling techniques and adherence to unit-specific protocols
- Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered behavioral healthcare
