HVAC Technician

M&J Services LLC is a locally owned and operated HVAC company serving Newport News and the surrounding Hampton Roads area. We are looking for a dependable, motivated HVAC Technician to join our growing team.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, treats customers professionally, and is eager to learn and improve their skills. Experience is preferred, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important to us.
Pay
Starting pay is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
Compensation will be determined based on:
- HVAC experience and technical knowledge
- Certifications and licenses
- Willingness and ability to learn
- Quality of workmanship
- Reliability and professionalism
- Overall job performance
HVAC licenses and additional certifications are a plus, but are not required for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain residential HVAC systems
- Assist with installation and replacement of HVAC equipment and components
- Troubleshoot heating, cooling, electrical, and mechanical issues
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Properly handle refrigerants and follow applicable EPA requirements
- Communicate professionally with customers
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Complete service documentation and communicate work performed
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable codes
- Learn and develop new HVAC skills as you grow with the company
Qualifications
- HVAC experience preferred, but willing to train the right person
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Dependable and punctual
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, outdoors, and other job-site conditions
- Ability to safely lift and handle HVAC equipment and materials
Preferred — But Not Required
- Virginia HVAC license or applicable trade credentials
- EPA Section 608 certification
- HVAC trade school or technical training
- Residential HVAC service experience
- Heat pump, air conditioning, furnace, or mini-split experience
- Electrical troubleshooting experience

Schedule
Full-time
Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime, weekends, or emergency service as needed.
