Job Summary
A residential home builder group in need of an experienced Estimator / Purchasing Coordinator to take ownership of the Job cost budgeting and purchasing for multiple entities. Job requires the ability to do quantitative takeoffs of multiple trades as well as understanding of the construction bid / quote process. Job will entail the ongoing creation, refinement, and implementation of process and procedures to support the purchasing and estimating functions for multiple clients. A basic understanding of residential homebuilding practices and procedures are fundamental to the work.
Must be efficient, organized, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Strong computer skills are required with a fundamental understanding of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience with PlanSwift or similar construction takeoff software is preferred
Pay will be commiserate with experience and/or education.
Duties
- Develop detailed project estimates using PlanSwift, and other estimating software tools.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and contracts to accurately assess project scope and costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and terms for materials and services.
- Prepare and submit purchase orders, ensuring timely procurement of materials while maintaining cost control.
- Monitor project budgets throughout the construction lifecycle to identify potential overruns and implement corrective actions.
- Source reliable vendors and suppliers, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts to secure the best value for the company.
- Coordinate with construction site teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, purchase orders, contracts, and project documentation for audit purposes.
- Assist in managing change orders and scope adjustments in line with contractual agreements.
Skills
- Proficiency in PlanSwift, and construction estimating software.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
- In-depth knowledge of construction estimating, cost control, and pricing strategies.
- Experience with construction site operations and understanding of construction management processes.
- Familiarity with contracts, project management principles, and construction law.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets related to costs, schedules, and project scope.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in estimates and procurement activities. Pay: $65,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
