Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs
- Implement physical therapy treatments including manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and therapeutic exercises to promote healing and mobility
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring proper usage and maintenance
- Document clinical assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately following clinical documentation standards
- Communicate clearly with patients about their care plans, progress, and home exercise programs to foster engagement and understanding
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as physicians, occupational therapists, and caregivers to optimize patient outcomes
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently to ensure comprehensive medical documentation and compliance with privacy regulations
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited program; current licensure or registration as required by state law
- Prior inpatient or outpatient experience in settings such as skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, clinics, or home health environments
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practice
- Proficiency in clinical assessment documentation, medical documentation standards, and discharge planning processes
- Experience with manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy and other physiotherapy modalities
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and manage electronic health records (EHR) effectively
- Excellent communication skills for caregiver and client interactions; ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
