Greater Georgia Behavioral Health is launching Groundwork, a new Adolescent Afterschool Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) based in Fayetteville, GA. The program will deliver integrated psychiatric and therapeutic care to adolescents ages 12 to 17.
The Opportunity
Greater Georgia Behavioral Health is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric care within Groundwork, working closely with the Medical Director and the broader clinical team. This is a part-time, in-person role, with coverage hours to be determined based on program census. One position is open, with a target start date of ASAP ahead of program launch.
What You'll Do

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations for adolescents (ages 12 to 17)

Obtain medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial histories to inform diagnostic impressions

Assess risk factors including suicidal ideation, homicidal intent, and self-harm behaviors

Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial needs, in coordination with the multidisciplinary team

Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications; evaluate therapeutic response, side effects, and adherence; educate clients and families on medication use, benefits, and risks

Provide brief psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and supportive counseling as needed; facilitate group sessions when appropriate

Collaborate closely with the Medical Director, psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and nursing staff; participate in case reviews and treatment planning conferences

Educate clients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies

Continuously monitor for clinical changes, side effects, medication interactions, and behavioral or safety concerns

Maintain accurate, timely, confidential documentation per HIPAA, state, and agency standards
What You Bring
-
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited institution

Current, unrestricted Georgia APRN/NP license with active RN licensure
-
Board Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMHNP-BC)

Current DEA registration
-
Ability to practice under a Georgia nurse protocol agreement and maintain all applicable supervision and collaboration requirements

Strong clinical knowledge of psychopharmacology, including child and adolescent considerations, and of integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

Trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally competent practice

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diagnostic skills
-
Minimum 1 to 2 years of clinical experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, or a related setting; adolescent experience preferred
Preferred

Child and adolescent psychiatry experience strongly preferred
-
PHP/IOP or structured level-of-care experience
-
Experience treating co-occurring substance use in adolescents
-
Experience with KIPU or a comparable behavioral health EMR

Experience coordinating with guardians and schools
Compensation and Schedule
Hourly: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Onsite | Aligned to afterschool and evening programming; specific coverage hours to be determined with the Medical Director
