Responsible for the coordination of all programming in the classroom. Educates and supports children in an individualized and nurturing manner, while supporting, and strengthening their positive physical, cognitive, and emotional development. Individualizes the curriculum to meet the needs of each child and family.
Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, or if working in an infant and toddler center a Child Development Associate (CDA).1,040 hours of Early Childhood work experience. Current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification or be able to obtain. Able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to kneel, bend, stoop, and sit to attend to children’s needs. Possess computer/technology skills. The ability to pass a background study. Needed Attributes: Awareness of, sensitivity to, children and families from a variety of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Ability to work with children and their families in a sensitive and nurturing manner. Self-starter with excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. - Manages classroom and maintains compliance with federal performance standards and state licensing requirements
- Responsible for the safety of all children through the compliance of Head Start policies and procedures
- Provides responsive and individualized care for children in a group setting, including toileting, or diapering and feeding as needed.
- Plans, implements, and individualizes curriculum to foster and support strengthening children’s development
- Conducts child screenings and ongoing assessments and needed referrals
- Conducts and implements home visits, conferences, field trips, and transition meetings
