We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and skilled DSP/Child Support Worker to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide hands-on care and meaningful support to a child with developmental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Provide consistent emotional and physical support to the individual, fostering trust, safety, and empowerment.
- Promote children's social, emotional, physical, and educational development through structured routines, positive reinforcement, and individualized attention.
- Model and encourage positive behaviors, while responding to challenges using calm, trauma-informed strategies.
- Support with daily living activities, including feeding, dressing, toileting, and medication administration, upholding each child’s dignity and preferences.
- Follow all safeguarding policies to protect children’s safety and well-being at all times.
- Collaborate with caregivers, clinicians, educators, and service providers to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services, observations, incidents, and progress notes.
- Uphold and advocate for the rights and autonomy of each resident, honoring diversity and individual needs.
- Implementing care plans tailored to the individual’s needs while respecting their rights and preferences.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance the clients' quality of life.
- Engaging clients in social and recreational activities to promote community involvement.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Valid Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
- Successful completion of all required MBON and DDA training, including pre-service and in-service programs aligned with the Person-Centered Plan.
- Previous experience working directly with children in a residential or care setting.
- Must possess current CPS background clearance and meet all requirements for working with minors.
- Health clearance and physical exam current within the past 12 months.
- Clean criminal background check.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Minimum of two positive references and verifiable employment history..
