DEFINITION: To provide classroom instruction regarding becoming a building inspector including lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. Students are experienced in one or more building trades and seek to pass this class to become a certified building inspector through the NC Department of Insurance (NCDOI)SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives supervision from EWD Senior Director and/or Workforce Training CoordinatorExercises no supervision

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENT: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide classroom and laboratory instructionPrepare online/virtual lessons through CanvasPrepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities; develop, and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessonsDevelop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scoresProvide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriateParticipate in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; attend faculty meetings as required.Work the number of hours scheduled by the Workforce Development DepartmentMaintain accurate records of student attendance, and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.Stay abreast of new developments, and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriateOversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching areaAs needed, attend trade association meetings and interact with employers.Other Important Functions: Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate Select various text books to be used for future classesPerform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
