Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Towing Operator to join our team and ensure the safe, efficient, and professional towing and recovery of vehicles. In this role, you will operate various tow trucks, including flatbed and heavy-duty models, to assist stranded motorists, recover vehicles from accident scenes, and transport vehicles to designated locations. Your expertise in vehicle mechanics, driving skills, and customer service will be vital to delivering exceptional service while maintaining safety standards. Duties
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and commercial models, to tow vehicles of various sizes and types.
- Conduct vehicle inspections prior to towing to ensure proper functioning of the tow truck and adherence to cargo securement protocols.
- Perform basic mechanical repairs and minor troubleshooting on vehicles when necessary to facilitate towing or recovery.
- Use automotive diagnostics tools to identify mechanical issues that may affect towing or vehicle operation.
- Securely load and unload vehicles onto tow trucks following safety procedures and cargo securement protocols.
- Assist with vehicle recovery towing at accident scenes, ensuring safe extraction while managing potential conflicts with other drivers or bystanders.
- Maintain accurate records of all towing activities, including shift logs, incident reports, and vehicle details.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining services professionally, and addressing concerns promptly.
- Operate additional equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading vehicles or cargo.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to driving, vehicle loading, cargo securement, and equipment operation to prevent accidents or injuries.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in automotive diagnostics, automotive repair, or mechanic work with a solid understanding of vehicle mechanics for trucks and cars.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting techniques for minor repairs on vehicles.
- Familiarity with flatbed tow trucks, vehicle recovery towing procedures, and safe vehicle loading practices.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently under various conditions.
- Knowledge of cargo securement protocols to ensure safe transport of all types of vehicles.
- Excellent conflict management skills for handling challenging situations professionally at roadside or accident scenes.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with clear communication skills.
- Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment is a plus.
- Ability to load & unload vehicles efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
