Position Overview
A prominent multi-generational family office is seeking an accomplished Director of Residences to oversee the operations, service standards, and management of a growing portfolio of luxury residences throughout Manhattan and Long Island.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring consistency, organization, and exceptional service across all residences while partnering closely with the principals, Estate Managers, and household teams. The Director of Residences will establish and maintain operational protocols, oversee major projects, support staffing initiatives, and ensure every property operates to the highest standards of luxury hospitality.
The ideal candidate is an experienced estate management professional who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and possesses exceptional leadership, hospitality, and organizational skills. This individual will work directly with the principals and collaborate with multiple departments within a well-established family office to ensure seamless communication and execution across all residences.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of a portfolio of luxury residences throughout Manhattan and Long Island
- Develop, implement, and maintain consistent household systems, operating procedures, and service standards across all properties
- Supervise and mentor Estate Managers while providing leadership and guidance to household teams
- Partner directly with the principals to anticipate needs and ensure exceptional service across all residences
- Collaborate closely with the family office and multiple internal departments to coordinate projects, staffing, budgeting, and residential operations
- Conduct regular property visits to ensure each residence is maintained to the highest standards of presentation, functionality, and hospitality
- Oversee household staffing, training, performance management, and service excellence
- Manage vendors, contractors, and service providers while ensuring accountability and quality control
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs, capital improvements, and special residential projects
- Maintain knowledge of all residential systems, including smart home technology, Crestron, AV, HVAC, lighting, security, and access control systems
- Develop operational budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for efficiencies
- Coordinate family moves between residences, seasonal transitions, and special events
- Foster a collaborative, service-driven culture across all residences and household teams
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing multiple luxury residences for a UHNW family, family office, or luxury hospitality organization
- Previous experience overseeing Estate Managers and fully staffed private residences
- Strong understanding of estate operations, luxury service standards, and household management
- Extensive knowledge of smart home technology, Crestron, AV, security, HVAC, lighting, and residential building systems
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
- Experience managing large-scale projects, renovations, budgets, and vendor relationships
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with multi-generational families and navigating varying personalities and service expectations
- Bachelor's degree preferred
