Automotive Service AdvisorPosition Summary
We are looking for a professional, organized, and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our busy automotive repair shop. The Service Advisor will be the primary point of contact between customers and the shop, responsible for understanding customer concerns, preparing estimates, coordinating repairs, ordering parts, and keeping customers informed throughout the repair process.
ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Greet customers and provide professional, friendly service.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to customer questions.
- Listen carefully to customers' concerns and determine what services or repairs they need.
- Explain repair recommendations and maintenance services clearly.
- Keep customers informed about the status of their vehicle.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding delays, additional repairs, and completed work.
- Handle customer concerns and help resolve service-related issues.
Estimates & Repair Orders
- Prepare accurate estimates for automotive repairs and maintenance.
- Review estimates with customers and explain parts, labor, and other charges.
- Obtain customer authorization before beginning additional work.
- Create and maintain accurate repair orders.
- Clearly document customer concerns, requested services, recommended repairs, and approved work.
- Update estimates when additional problems are discovered and obtain customer approval.
Parts & Supplier Coordination
- Identify the correct parts needed for repairs.
- Order parts from automotive suppliers.
- Verify part numbers, availability, pricing, and vehicle compatibility.
- Track parts orders and communicate with suppliers regarding delays, returns, or warranty issues.
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure the required parts are available when needed.
Shop Coordination
- Communicate customer concerns and repair requirements to technicians.
- Schedule customer appointments and coordinate the shop's workload.
- Monitor repair progress and provide customers with timely updates.
- Coordinate additional diagnostic work when necessary.
- Communicate with customers when unexpected repairs or additional costs are discovered.
- Help ensure vehicles are completed and delivered according to schedule.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate customer and vehicle records.
- Process estimates, invoices, and repair documentation.
- Follow up with customers regarding estimates and recommended repairs.
- Assist with warranty documentation and parts warranty claims when necessary.
- Maintain a professional and organized service-advisor area.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an automotive Service Advisor is preferred.
- Automotive repair shop experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer-service skills.
- Ability to prepare and explain repair estimates.
- Ability to multitask in a busy shop environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable using computers and automotive shop management software.
- Ability to work professionally with customers, technicians, and parts suppliers.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- ASE Service Consultant certification is a plus but not required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is professional, honest, organized, and comfortable talking with customers. They should be able to understand automotive problems, explain repairs in a way customers can understand, accurately prepare estimates, coordinate parts and technicians, and follow each repair from customer check-in through vehicle delivery.

Competitive compensation based on experience, automotive knowledge, customer-service skills, and qualifications.

Pay: $20.00 - $28.85 per hour
