Position Overview
Gold Coast Beauty Spa by Shanzo is seeking licensed Nail Technicians to provide professional nail services in a clean, welcoming salon environment in Chicago's Gold Coast. We are looking for skilled, client-focused professionals who take pride in their work and are motivated to develop repeat business through excellent service, rebooking, referrals, client outreach, and professional promotion of their services.
Existing clientele is welcomed but not required. The salon may also provide appointment opportunities from salon-generated clients.
Compensation and Opportunity
- 50% of eligible nail-service revenue
- Technicians retain their tips
- Estimated average compensation of approximately $30 per completed service hour or approximately $1,200 based on completed service volume and clientele
- Commission earnings are uncapped and are not guaranteed
- Booking and payment processing through Clover
- Professional salon workspace in Chicago's Gold Coast
- Technicians establish their service availability as independent contractors
Services May Include
- Manicures and pedicures
- Gel manicures and gel removal
- Acrylic full sets, fills, repairs, and removal
- Builder gel, hard gel, or Gel-X services
- Dip powder services
- Natural nail care
- Nail art and specialty designs
Responsibilities
- Provide nail services consistent with your license, experience, and demonstrated proficiency
- Deliver a professional, welcoming, and high-quality client experience
- Conduct client consultations and recommend appropriate services
- Encourage rebooking and referrals and actively develop a returning clientele
- Maintain accurate appointments and client information through Clover
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized service area
- Follow all applicable Illinois licensing, sanitation, infection-control, and safety requirements
- Communicate professionally with clients and salon personnel
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Nail Technician or Cosmetology License
- Demonstrated proficiency in one or more nail-service categories
- Professional portfolio or social media page showing completed work
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and infection-control practices
- Strong client-service, consultation, and communication skills
- Ability to promote services and build, manage, and retain clientele
- Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail
Independent Contractor Terms
The selected technician will provide services as a 1099 independent contractor and will not be an employee of Gold Coast Beauty Spa by Shanzo. Independent contractors are responsible for their own federal, state, and local taxes, including self-employment taxes, and are not eligible for employee benefits. Compensation is commission-based and will vary according to completed service revenue.
Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
