Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing, ensuring proper handling and storage
- Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and maintaining a respectful demeanor across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, vital signs taken, and patient interactions using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems
- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, health regulations, and safety standards at all times
- Assist with specimen processing, data entry, and transportation to the laboratory while managing heavy lifting when necessary
- Support laboratory staff by preparing samples for analysis and maintaining cleanliness of work areas
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or medical laboratory work preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices
- Certification or training in phlebotomy, venipuncture, CPR (Basic Life Support), and Blood Sampling techniques required
- Familiarity with hospital environments, EMR/EHR systems, and data entry processes essential
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and maintain attention to detail during specimen collection and handling
- Knowledge of aseptic technique to prevent contamination during specimen collection
