About Riser
The goal of Riser is to enable every individual to be successful in their career. We believe that fulfilling careers require mastery of soft-skills like critical thinking, perseverance, creativity, and communication skills. That’s why we’re building a solution which teaches those skills and produces meaningful behavior change, all grounded in science.
With a behavioral psychologist as part of the founding team, we are leveraging the cutting-edge science that supports learning retention and positive habit formation. Alongside our learning tools, Riser will have a proprietary AI model powering our Coach. Riser is the app that will be in your corner supporting you throughout your career journey.
About the Opportunity
Exercise your design and UX creativity by joining a startup being built by established entrepreneurs who have successfully started, grown, and sold multiple companies. At Riser, you will have the opportunity to be your most creative self
You will be making your mark by leading design, shaping the UI/UX foundation, designing the alpha product, and moving with us to beta product stage. This is an opportunity to define the product experience from the beginning and build a creative, effective design foundation.
The role is for someone who can bridge product design and technical execution. This is a design-first role; you will not be expected to personally code every feature, but you should know enough about app architecture, front-end implementation, platform constraints, and development tradeoffs to guide smart product decisions. This role is about working effectively with engineers, external development shops, and the rest of the Riser team to move product ideas from concept design to production.
You are someone who brings strong leadership, ownership, and has a comfort working in an early-stage startup environment. You should be excited to build, not just manage. You can roll up your sleeves, move between strategy and execution, take responsibility for turning ideas into a working product, and hire/scale a team for growth.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Lead product design for Riser and establish the design principles, reusable components, interaction patterns, onboarding flows, edge cases, and product documentation that can scale as the company grows. You should bring hands-on Figma fluency, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, design systems, production-ready handoff, and functional prototypes using AI-assisted tools.
- Shape the early product vision. You should be comfortable moving between product strategy, detailed design, and practical execution in an innovative startup environment.
- Design engaging UI/UX for learning and activity modules. You should have experience designing engagement loops, activity modules, gamified experiences, push notifications, reminders, or nudges.
- Create polished, usable app experiences across mobile and web patterns. You should have fluency in interactive design, animation systems, and how motion can improve clarity, usability, and engagement.
- Partner with external development shops and engineering teams to move features from design approval through code completion and production release.
- Make practical product decisions based on platform constraints, technical feedback, and development complexity. You should have working knowledge of app implementation considerations across SwiftUI, React Native, Flutter, native Android/Kotlin, and/or modern web app frameworks.
- Support QA, bug review, beta testing, code-complete readiness, staged rollouts, user feedback review, and product refinement during development cycles. You should have experience with application beta programs such as TestFlight, Google Play testing tracks, or similar release/testing workflows.
What a Successful Candidate Brings
A strong candidate will have a portfolio that shows more than polished final screens. We are looking for innovation, product thinking, user problem-solving, design decision-making, technical tradeoffs, design iteration, and shipped outcomes.
Ideally, you will have taken ownership and leadership in ambiguous and fast-moving environments, helped bring structure to early product visualization, and moved a product from concept and prototype, through beta, and into production launch.
