CNA: ER Department – Killeen, TX – Ft. Cavazos
We are currently seeking civilian CNA's to join our team to provide full-time services to the service members at Ft. Cavazos, TX. This is a full-time position with benefits to include Insurance, PTO, Paid Federal Holidays, Paid Sick Leave, 401(k), weekly pay and more.
Duties:
- Contract Certified Nurse Assistant providing services under this contract shall perform essentially the same clinical duties as those required of a and in similar duty assignments. Additionally, the Contract Certified Nurse Assistant Serves as a Nursing Assistant providing a variety of nursing care and treatment to acutely ill medical and trauma patients reporting to the Emergency Room. Work is performed on a rotating shift basis.
- Responds to a wide range of patient conditions, frequently assists with providing emergency treatment to patients who are difficult to understand and/or treatment due to their physical or mental condition i.e., type of injury, shock, altered mental state, etc.
- Assists with triage of patients. Takes and records full vital signs, reporting deviations to a senior member of the health care team. Performs phlebotomy, obtains blood and other specimens, provides appropriate labeling, and completes lab/X ray forms. Places intravenous catheters as required. Transports patients via wheelchair/stretcher to wards, clinics, radiology, etc.
- Prepares, shaves, scrubs, drapes, positions, and holds patients. Assists physician/physician assistant with procedures by handling instruments and supplies, observes patients during treatment, reporting any adverse or unusual reactions. Performs catheterizations, irrigation care of drainage tubes, suction, administration of oxygen, IPPB treatments, application of pressure to stop open bleeding. Treats wounds, irrigate s area, and applies dressing and bandages to wounds. Recognizes the need for and initiates emergency measures when indicated; calls nurse or physician and assists in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Provides post-mortem care of body. Performs electrocardiograms (EKGs) and applies electrodes to patients placed on cardiac monitors or EKG equipment.
- Assist with observation of patient until condition stabilizes. Recognize and report abnormalities to licensed personnel. Assist and support the patient during such procedures. Initiate emergency action and administer CPR as required. Recognizes and reports any deviations on the cardiac monitor; assists with emergency measures. Makes appropriate entry into the medical record documents of observations and care given to patient. Prepares necessary reports prescribed for the specific patient condition (i.e., animal bites, drug/alcohol involvement, etc.). Provide monitoring for psychiatric patients.
- Performs various administrative support duties as assigned by charge nurse or shift leader, such as working at reception desk, obtaining patient records, x-rays, and lab test results. Assist with EHR (Electronic Health Record) check-in, admissions, transfers and discharges Observes patient condition and reports changes to licensed personnel. Assists professional personnel in disseminating patient education through verbal instructions. The quality of service shall meet or exceed reasonable standards of professional practice. Perform a variety of paraprofessional nursing care for family-based health care sites.
- Performs housekeeping and stock maintenance duties. Provides general cleaning and care of equipment to include stretchers, exam tables, etc. Takes inventory and calls attention to deficiencies in supplies and equipment; restocks supplies. Bundles soiled linen and collects contaminated linen.
PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
Education: Completion of a nursing aide training program, and completion of a national CNA certification program.
Experience: One year of experience as a CNA after certification.
