In this role, you will expertly open and prepare oysters, ensuring each shell is handled with precision and care. Your enthusiasm for seafood and culinary craftsmanship will shine as you contribute to creating memorable dining moments for our guests. Responsibilities
- Carefully shuck oysters, ensuring shells are opened cleanly and efficiently while maintaining food safety standards
- Inspect oysters for freshness, quality, and proper size before serving or further processing
- Assist with food preparation tasks related to seafood, including cleaning, portioning, and presentation setup
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to sanitation protocols at all times
- Support the culinary team with other food handling duties such as slicing, garnishing, and plating as needed
- Follow all safety procedures when handling knives and seafood equipment to prevent accidents
- Contribute to a positive dining atmosphere by serving oysters promptly and professionally to guests or kitchen staff
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments preferred; experience with seafood or oyster shucking highly desirable
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with seafood handling techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with precision
- Excellent attention to detail when opening oysters and preparing seafood dishes
- Enthusiasm for culinary arts, especially seafood cuisine, with a willingness to learn new skills
- Reliable team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude
