JOB INFORMATION
Custodian is primarily responsible for cleaning the university in a manner that promotes health and
safety, following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules. The Custodian follows both written
and oral cleaning schedules. The Custodian may also be responsible for additional duties not
stipulated below. These additional duties include general building, stadium, and grounds
maintenance, etc.
Primary Duties:
- Collect all garbage and recyclables from the assigned locations and place them in the correct
- disposal dumpster
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and fixtures daily with a germicidal solution
- Wet mops all washable floors, including restrooms, stairwells, elevators, office areas, and
- storage areas
- Cleans glass and windows (inside and outside) when required
- Cleans office areas and building entrances
- Vacuums all carpeted areas and dust-mops corridors
- Dust, clean, and sanitize other surfaces
- Refills paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap in all dispensers
- Participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested
- Attend and participate in worksite safety and in-service training
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to comply with and pass a background check as required by the contract
- Submit and pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be able to physically move through the worksite
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods as well as stoop, squat, lift, carry, and push
- Must wear protective equipment, such as latex gloves and safety glasses, according to OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work independently
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
