Mount Sinai South Nassau provides a salary range in good faith determination of potential compensation to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Position Summary
Summary:
The Tumor Registrar ensures that complete and accurate data are collected and maintained for all patients diagnosed with and/or treated for cancer within the institution. Follows all policies and procedures set forth by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, NY State Department of Health Cancer Registry, and Hospital Cancer Committee. This position requires a background in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, data analysis and collection and reporting.

Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- High school diploma or equivalent with a strong biological science background
Experience And Skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- Two or more years experience in the registry field and familiarity with ACoS/CoC requirements for hospital based cancer programs and New York State Dept. of Health Cancer Registry guidelines are preferred.
- Computer proficiency and competency in multiple registry software programs including METRIQ
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and all Cancer Registry related manuals including but not limited to ICD-O coding, AJCC Cancer Staging, and SEER.
License/Certifications
- Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential is required
- LPN, RN, RHIT, or RHIA preferred.

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
- Position requires extensive periods of sitting and/or standing and must be able to lift and move charts, @ 20-30lbs.
- Strong communication skills are necessary to interact with internal and external customers.
- Must be able to work effectively under high stress situations.
- Exposure to electromagnetic fields – VDT workstations. Low to no risk.
