Exhibit Engineer / CAD Detailer

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional evening and weekend hours during peak production periods.

Position Summary
Visual Communications is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Exhibit Engineer / CAD Detailer to join our in-house engineering team in Aston, PA.
This role serves as a critical link between Sales, Project Management, Creative Design, Customer Service, and Shop Production. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and possesses strong technical drawing skills, a sense of urgency, and a thorough understanding of fabrication methods.
Candidates with three or more years of experience in a high-production cabinetry, millwork, interior construction, trade show, or event fabrication environment are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Detailing & Engineering
- Develop detailed construction drawings for custom exhibit components, retail fixtures, and architectural elements.
- Create complete installation drawing packages including floor plans, elevations, electrical layouts, rigging plans, and graphic elevations, and assembly instructions.
- Generate detailed fabrication drawings from conceptual designs, sketches, and limited project information.
- Ensure drawings clearly communicate design intent and meet all project specifications.
- Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, and manufacturability.
Production & Manufacturing Support
- Generate CNC-ready part files and cut sheets.
- Produce material takeoffs and coordinate material orders with the Purchasing Department.
- Support shop production teams by providing accurate and complete fabrication documentation.
- Maintain organized project files, revisions, and drawing records.
Project Coordination
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established schedules and deadlines.
- Communicate proactively with Project Managers, Designers, Production staff, and external vendors to obtain required information and keep projects progressing.
- Track drawing submittals, revisions, and approval processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, including 3D modeling. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their AutoCAD proficiency through a practical skills assessment during the interview process.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Industry Knowledge
- Understanding of materials, hardware, and construction techniques related to trade show exhibits, custom cabinetry, retail fixtures, or architectural millwork.
- Hands-on fabrication or shop experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to interpret and coordinate information from design renderings, specifications, and architectural plans.

- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during extended periods of technical work.

Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a high-production cabinet shop, interior fabrication shop, trade show, or related industry strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements
- Must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to Aston, PA 19014 before beginning employment.
- This is an on-site position; remote work is not available.
