Autism Support Professionals play a vital, hands-on role supporting individuals with Autism and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. You will build meaningful connections while providing guidance and personalized support based on person-centered plans tailored to each individual’s strengths and goals. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, teaching essential life skills, fostering social development, promoting health and wellness, and encouraging community participation. This role also involves responding to challenging behaviors with patience, professionalism, and compassion. Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience assisting persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism
- Ability to support people with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, showering and feeding
- Ability to lift an adult using a two person lift and adaptive equipment
- Successfully complete the medication administration (AMAP) course and annual recertification
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to learn how to document services electronically
- Valid Driver’s License required
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide ongoing oversight to people living in the residence
- Implement Person Centered Residential Habilitation Plans
- Provide training and support for each person in accordance with the individual personalized program plan
- Have scheduling flexibility; may be required to work beyond the normal shift
- Drive agency vans and demonstrate safe driving practices
