Marietta Country Club is seeking a skilled and passionate Banquet Cook to join our Culinary Team. This position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of high-quality food for banquets, weddings, member events, golf tournaments, and other private functions. Working collaboratively with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, and culinary team, the Banquet Cook plays an integral role in ensuring every event reflects the excellence and hospitality for which Marietta Country Club is known.
- Prepare and cook banquet menu items according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
- Ensure consistent food quality, taste, portion control, and presentation for all banquet and catered events.
- Assist with banquet food preparation, plating, buffet setup, and event execution.
- Read and follow banquet event orders (BEOs), recipes, and production sheets accurately.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, measuring, and organizing food items before service.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all banquet menus, ingredients, recipes, allergens, and preparation methods.
- Assist in the preparation of hors d'oeuvres, plated meals, buffets, carving stations, action stations, and desserts as assigned.
- Work efficiently under tight production timelines while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Monitor food quality throughout service and promptly communicate any concerns to culinary leadership.
- Maintain effective communication with chefs, banquet captains, servers, and fellow culinary team members regarding timing, menu changes, and special dietary requests.
- Properly label, rotate, store, and date food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, work surfaces, utensils, cutting boards, floors, coolers, and storage areas.
- Follow all local health department regulations, food safety standards, and Club sanitation procedures.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing food deliveries as needed.
- Support the culinary team in other kitchen operations as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure successful banquet operations and outstanding member and guest satisfaction.
- Minimum of two (2) years of culinary experience in banquet, hotel, country club, resort, or fine dining operations preferred.
- Experience preparing large-volume banquet functions is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and banquet production sheets.
- Basic knife skills and understanding of professional cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a professional culinary team.
- Positive attitude with a commitment to providing exceptional service.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, twist, reach, kneel, crouch, and lift throughout the workday.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Occasionally move or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
This position requires a flexible schedule based on banquet and club event operations.
- Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
- Hours vary based on Club event schedules and business needs.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must successfully complete E-Verify employment verification.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
