Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Planer Set-up professional to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up planers—large woodworking machines used to smooth and dimension lumber—ensuring precise operation for high-quality production. Your expertise will help optimize machine performance, maintain safety standards, and support efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately set up planer machinery for various projects.
- Operate and adjust CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programming tools to configure planers for different cuts and dimensions.
- Use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and ensure machining accuracy.
- Prepare and install cutting tools, blades, and other components using hand tools, power tools, or forklifts when necessary.
- Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and safety inspections on planer equipment to uphold safety standards in production.
- Collaborate with the machining team to troubleshoot issues, optimize machine settings, and improve workflow efficiency.
- Maintain detailed setup records, logs, and quality control documentation to ensure traceability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with millwork, sawmill production, or woodworking manufacturing environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus for understanding detailed plans.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC machines, including programming and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with machine operation safety standards in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to use calipers, hand tools, power tools, and forklift equipment safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of construction, carpentry, woodworking techniques, and sawmill processes is highly desirable.
- Warehouse experience with an emphasis on precision measurement in machining is beneficial.

Pay: $23.67 - $28.50 per hour
