American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a MD or Compact RN license and a minimum of 1 year of experience.
-
13-week contract with 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30)
-
Medical/Surgical unit in a community hospital setting
-
Patient ratio of 1:5–6
-
Every other weekend required (4 weekends per 13-week contract cycle)

Holiday coverage required as scheduled
-
Floating required within specialty and to lower-acuity units as needed; floating to a sister facility may occasionally be required
-
No on-call responsibilities

Epic EMR experience preferred
-
Charting system: Epic (preferred)
-
Active MD or Compact RN license required
-
Current BLS certification (AHA only) required
-
CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version is the only accepted online vendor)
-
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required

Community hospital experience preferred
-
Proficiency with IV therapy, peripheral line care/management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
-
Skills in non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
-
Experience with feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and wound care
-
Familiarity with isolation precautions/PPE and use of rapid response/code teams
-
Insulin and PCA medication administration experience

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible; locals within 50 miles are not accepted

Scrub color: royal blue

Travelers are first to float and must be comfortable floating within scope without restrictions

Max of 7 days of RTO may be requested; more than 4 consecutive days off requires an extension to the back end of the contract

Candidates who were previously staff at this health system must have been away for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler

Return travelers must have been away from the health system for at least 6 months after completing a prior assignment

Labs must be completed within 72 hours of signing the contract; all compliance documents are due 5 days prior to start date
