Job Summary
We are on the lookout for a passionate and detail-oriented Meat Cutter/Butcher to join our food retail team. In this role, you'll be the go-to expert for preparing, cutting, and packaging a variety of meats and seafood, ensuring top quality and safety standards are met every day. Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, and prepare a wide range of meats and seafood using proper butchery techniques and slicing methods.
- Operate meat processing machines safely and efficiently to ensure consistent product quality.
- Maintain high standards of food safety by following sanitizing procedures and proper food handling practices.
- Package products attractively and accurately for retail display or customer orders, ensuring proper labeling.
- Conduct visual inspections to monitor quality control, checking for freshness, appearance, and any signs of spoilage.
- Assist customers with their selections by providing knowledgeable advice on cuts, preparation methods, and cooking tips.
- Manage perishable goods carefully by rotating stock and ensuring proper storage conditions to minimize waste.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food production, retail store operations, or the food industry is highly desirable.
- Strong knife skills with the ability to perform precise meat cutting and trimming techniques.
- Familiarity with meat processing machines and slicing equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety management protocols, sanitizing procedures, and handling perishable goods.
- Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and inventory management purposes.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients.
- Kitchen or culinary experience including fish handling or restaurant work is a plus but not mandatory.
