We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer with strong SolidWorks experience to design custom fabricated products, develop manufacturing drawings, and prepare accurate customer quotations.
This role combines engineering, estimating, and project support. The ideal candidate understands sheet metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes and can confidently determine the most efficient way to build a product while accurately estimating fabrication and shipping costs.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
- Design custom manholes, access covers, hatches, and fabricated steel products.
- Interpret customer drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Develop bills of materials (BOMs).
- Estimate fabrication labor, material, and production costs.
- Calculate shipping requirements and freight costs.
- Work closely with production to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Collaborate with sales to provide accurate quotes and technical support.
- Revise drawings based on customer feedback or production requirements.
- Maintain organized engineering documentation and drawing revisions.
- Assist with continuous improvement of estimating and design processes.
QualificationsRequired
- 3+ years of SolidWorks experience.
- Experience creating manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with fabricated steel products, welding, machining, or sheet metal.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Pay: $27.29 - $32.87 per hour
