We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the agency's finance, accounting, payroll, billing, and reporting functions. This hands-on role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys accurate day-to-day accounting work, process improvement, and collaboration across departments. The accountant provides support to the agency and programs in a manner that is culturally sensitive to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage and support finance, payroll, and accounting software systems, including vendor coordination and process improvements.
- Assist the CFO with monthly financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, depreciation schedules, audit preparation, and annual budget preparation.
- Process daily cash receipts, bank deposits, cash receipt batches, non-AR invoices, grant invoices, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, monitor general ledger accounts, and prepare schedules used in annual reporting.
- Process payroll transactions accurately and on time, including salaries, benefits, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and 401(k) plan activity.
- Review benefits invoices for accuracy and serve as a key contact for the payroll processing company.
- Serve as backup for accounts payable, billing, selected HR functions, and certain CFO responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- At least two years of increasing responsibilities in general accounting required
- CPA preferred
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Demonstrated experience to perform complex reconciliations
