POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Designer, RTW, will focus on denim, bottom, outerwear, dress, gown and suiting for categories such as men, women and children.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pattern Making knowledge preferred.
- Responsible for managing approval timing of their styles. Raises to the Director’s attention if approval(s) will be late.
- Measures all fit samples from proto to T.O.P. prior to fitting.
- Creates Tech Packs in Excel or WFX with construction callouts, target measurements and grading.
- Update WIPs and adhere to the T&A calendar.
- Sends Tech Pack Fit Comments and Grading to vendors after each fit round.
- Communicates with vendors via emails, WhatsApp and FaceTime daily or as needed.
- Problem solves construction and production issues.
- Work cross functionally with PD, design and production.
- Book fit models and keep tab of the budget.
- Keep approved samples for reference and fit history.
- Train and mentor technical designers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience in Technical Design of RTW for American or European Brands, preferably Contemporary or Designer Brands.
- Ability to lead fittings and solve fit challenges without assistance.
- Strong pattern making skills preferred.
- Adept at collaborating with cross functional teams.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
- Good organization and communication skills.
- Multiple task management skills.
- Ability to react to change.
- Proven ability to be a valued contributor.
- Effective communicate in written and verbal form.
- Computer literate (Outlook, Photoshop, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc…)
