Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervisor Pharmacist to lead our pharmacy team within a high-acuity healthcare environment. Responsibilities
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory standards
- Oversee medication dispensing processes, including IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique, maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, critical care units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and emergency departments to optimize medication therapy management
- Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate documentation, drug regulation adherence, and participating in audits
- Provide clinical pharmacy services such as patient assessment, pharmacotherapeutics recommendations, acute pain management, oncology medication oversight, and medication reconciliation
- Utilize hospital pharmacy information systems (PIS) and EMR/EHR platforms for efficient medication ordering, documentation, and patient data review
- Precept pharmacy residents and students, fostering professional development and clinical expertise in specialized areas such as trauma centers or ICU settings
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license with current practice credentials in the relevant jurisdiction
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing pharmacy teams in complex healthcare environments
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and drug regulation policies
- Hands-on experience with IV compounding, aseptic techniques, and sterile preparation procedures
- Background in managed care settings or Level I/Level II trauma center experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care areas such as ICU, emergency room, pediatrics, or post-residency practice environments
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and pharmacy information systems (PIS) for medication management and documentation
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and patient education efforts
