About the Role
At Terpene Journey, our budtenders help customers explore cannabis through thoughtful recommendations and consumer education. As the face of our company, budtenders must be honest, kind, approachable, and team-oriented.
You will work with a wide range of customers—from people purchasing cannabis for the first time to experienced consumers looking for something new. You should be comfortable navigating these conversations with genuine care, active listening, and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
As a Terpene Journey budtender, you will:
- Welcome customers and create a friendly, supportive retail experience.
- Listen to customers’ needs and provide thoughtful product education and recommendations.
- Facilitate sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash management, data entry, and other point-of-sale responsibilities.
- Follow all Massachusetts cannabis regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked dispensary.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Support inventory activities, including stickering, stocking products, and replenishing supplies.
- Collaborate with teammates to support the dispensary’s daily operations.
Duties and responsibilities may change based on the operational needs of the company.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:
- At least two years of experience in retail sales or another customer-facing role, such as bartending or serving.
- Excellent verbal communication and active-listening skills.
- The ability to identify customer needs and explain products clearly.
- A strong work ethic and a team-oriented attitude.
- The ability to take direction, accept feedback, and continue learning.
- General math and cash-handling skills.
- A commitment to dependable attendance, including consistently arriving on time and avoiding unnecessary call-outs.
- An interest in cannabis products, consumer education, and emerging industry trends.
Knowledge of cannabis, cannabinoids, terpenes, and product formats is a strong plus but is not required.
Regulatory and Physical Requirements
Candidates must:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Meet Massachusetts cannabis-industry background-check and fingerprinting requirements.
- Understand that certain criminal convictions may affect eligibility under state cannabis-licensing regulations.
- Be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds for a distance of approximately 50 feet.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Regular working days will be Tuesday to Saturday 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
