Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; document findings accurately
- Administer medications and treatments following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities through tailored care strategies
- Use equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to prevent injury during transfers; assist with heavy lifting when necessary
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary requirements and preferences
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning patient areas and ensuring infection control standards are met
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health care, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize changes in condition promptly
- Experience with medication administration, care planning, and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Familiarity with assisting individuals with disabilities or memory care needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Hands-on experience using medical equipment like Hoyer lifts or vital signs monitors
- Strong understanding of HIPAA privacy standards and confidentiality protocols
- Previous roles involving social work or hospice care are advantageous but not required
