The Whitman County Sheriff's Office Correctional Division is currently seeking applicants for the position of Corrections Officer. This is a Full-Time 40hrs per week position working with and providing services to inmates being housed in the Whitman County Jail. Competitive Salary/Benefits/Retirement
Responsibilities for Correctional Officer include but are not limited to; Booking and processing incoming and outgoing prisoners according to written policies and procedures; Writing detailed and accurate incident reports; Conduct inmate and cell searches; Inspect visitors and packages delivered to the facility; Respond to crisis situations; Oversee inmate activities including meals, classes, visitation, recreation and medical oversight; Monitor inmates and grounds with digital surveillance equipment; Overseeing movement of prisoners inside and outside the facility; Work closely with other public service organizations, courts and law enforcement entities. Starting Wage: $25.98/hr
Full Wage Range: $25.98- $31.58/hr

Minimum Qualifications for Correctional Officer; High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must be at least 21 years of age; Must possess a valid driver's license; Ability to pass a background check, drug test, physical examination, polygraph test and psychological examination.
