The hiring department will first consider applicants from the higher-level position. If the applicant pool does not yield a successful candidate, the applicant pool from the lower-level position will then be evaluated. If the lower level posting yields the successful candidate, the hiring department intends to develop the candidate in preparation for the higher level position. Department Summary
Ohio University is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven professional to serve as a Senior Admissions Advisor, playing a key role in advancing undergraduate recruitment and enrollment goals. This position will guide prospective students and families through the admissions process, applying deep knowledge of academic programs, policies, and student services to support informed decision-making. Through a combination of strategic outreach, personalized engagement, and data-informed decision-making, you will directly influence enrollment outcomes and the overall student experience.
As a leader within the admissions team, the Senior Admissions Advisor will manage recruitment strategy for assigned territories or populations, including planning and executing outreach, travel, and engagement initiatives. This position will represent Ohio University at high-impact events, build and sustain strong relationships with students, families, school counselors, and community partners, and translate institutional strengths into compelling, student-centered messaging. In addition to evaluating applications and contributing to admission decisions, the Senior Admissions Advisor will help ensure consistency and quality in the review process while navigating complex and nuanced applicant scenarios with confidence.
The Senior Admissions Advisor leverages recruitment and enrollment data to refine outreach strategies, contributes to team and office initiatives, and serves as a resource to colleagues by mentoring new staff and supporting student employees. This role is ideal for a strategic and self-directed professional who is passionate about higher education, thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered environment, enjoys balancing independent work with collaboration, and is motivated to make a measurable impact.
Position Profile
Recruits, evaluates, and participates in the selection of candidates for University admission. Coordinates with all internal departments, external organizations, and individuals involved in the admissions process. Advises applicants and parents about educational planning. Ensures the effective and compliant processing of student applications.
Level Summary
Provides professional expertise to the University community. Serves as a resource and guide to others in the department and/or university. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams.

Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Significant travel, including some overnights and weekends, within assigned territory is required. Travel to Ohio University for training, on-campus events, and collaboration with admissions staff and university colleagues is also expected. Must be able to travel independently.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in college admissions, academic advising in higher education, college student personnel, or counseling or teaching in secondary schools; demonstrated interpersonal and written communication and public speaking skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Data analysis experience.
The incumbent is able to represent the University in a professional and positive manner and abide by the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission.
Ability to travel independently including overnight and internationally. Ability to pass background checks, university judiciary review, and regular driving history audits.

Work Schedule
The work schedule for this position is generally between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. Some early, late, and weekend hours may be required with advance notice for activities such as recruitment events, visits and travel. This is an in-person position based on the Athens campus with some flexibility to work remotely within the departments established guidelines. Travel within Ohio, nationally, and internationally may be required.
