Clinical Lead – Dermatology

Employment Type: Full-time, hourly (non-exempt)
Reports to: Practice Manager / Physician(s)
Pay: $22-25 an hour
Position Summary
We're seeking an experienced Clinical Lead to oversee the day-to-day operations of our dermatology clinical team. This is primarily a leadership and oversight role, supervising medical assistants and clinical support staff, driving efficient patient flow, and ensuring high standards of care and compliance. The Clinical Lead steps into direct patient care as needed but spends most of the day managing people, processes, and workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate providers, medical assistants and clinical support staff.
- Train and onboard new clinical staff; provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Serve as the go-to resource for clinical questions, escalations, and problem-solving.
- Partner with providers and the Practice Manager to align staffing with daily patient volume.
Clinical Operations
- Oversee patient flow to keep the clinic running smoothly and on schedule.
- Ensure exam and procedure rooms are properly stocked, prepared, and turned over.
- Standardize and maintain clinical workflows and protocols across the team.
- Manage clinical supply inventory and coordinate ordering.
- Support providers during dermatology procedures and treatments as needed.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support EHR/charting quality.
- Monitor and uphold safety protocols, including equipment maintenance and logs.
- Track staff certifications, competencies, and required training.
Direct Patient Care (as needed)
- Room patients, take histories/vitals, and assist providers during exams and procedures.
- Perform clinical duties consistent with MA/nursing scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Active credential as a Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or licensed nurse (RN/LPN).
- 3+ years of clinical experience; dermatology or specialty/procedural experience strongly preferred.
- 1+ year in a lead, supervisory, or charge role preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and clinical compliance standards.
- Proficiency with EHR systems.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
