The short version
You'll fly or drive into a new city most weeks, walk into a home where someone has been sick for years without knowing why, and spend the entire day finding the thing nobody else found. Then you'll do it again somewhere else.
You work alone in the field, but you're never working without a team. A consultant preps the property before you arrive. A team takes your findings and builds the remediation plan. And your job is the part in the middle — the part that has to be right: mold inspection.
Why this work matters
We Inspect was founded by second-generation indoor environmental consultants Brian Karr and Corey Levy to serve a client we're built specifically for: people who are mold-hypersensitive. Our clients are often dealing with CIRS, Lyme, autoimmune conditions, or PANS/PANDAS. Many of them have spent years and tens of thousands of dollars being told nothing is wrong with their house.
Something usually is, and our job is to find it.
Hundreds of functional medicine practitioners refer patients to us because we operate at a standard the general inspection industry doesn't. We thoroughly examine every home to identify the environmental concerns, leaving nothing undocumented. We treat each property like it's our own home and the stakes are too high to miss. And, we do so with a smile, knowing that we are not just finding mold for homeowners – we're delivering hope that they can finally know where the source of the issues are in their home.
You will get thank-you notes. You will occasionally get tears. This is not a role where you wonder whether the work mattered.
What you'll actually do
- Conduct comprehensive 6-8 hour property inspections, sometimes spanning multiple days, investigating HVAC systems, structural components, crawlspaces, basements, and client belongings — following We Inspect protocols with no shortcuts
- Collect air and surface samples based on a rigorous investigation method, using client insights, We Inspect's proven methodology, moisture meters, infrared cameras, hygrometers, and more
- Photograph and document findings in detail, uploading to our internal reporting platform in near-real-time so the office can review while you're still on site
- Debrief with your Inspection Consultant on observations, anomalies, and findings
- Travel the country taking care of our clients - driving or flying to/from jobs and managing your hotels, equipment, sample chain-of-custody frms, and lab shipping deadlines
- Maintain and calibrate your equipment kit, and keep it flight-ready
The travel reality
Because we serve all 50 states, our field team can be in 4 different cities (or even 4 different states) each week. This translates to roughly 3–4 nights per week on the road, inside a Monday-through-Friday schedule. While you will own jobs in your immediate area and often have local jobs to conduct, the majority of inspections take place remotely. No mattter what, weekends are yours — we build routes to get you home.
- What that practically looks like: early or late flights, exciting new cities, dinners alone or with a good book, hotel gyms, and a lot of windshield time. Also: a genuinely growing list of places you've been, points and miles that accrue on your accounts, and long stretches of the year where you are not sitting at a desk.
- What we cover: airfare, hotels, rental cars, fuel, tolls, parking, and a per diem for every travel day.
If you have a life that flexes around this — great. If you have a life that doesn't, this role will make you unhappy.
Who thrives here
We are looking for a specific person. If this is you, we want you to apply:
- You've done solo, technical, client-facing work before and were good at it. Field service, home inspection, restoration, HVAC, environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, utility or telecom field ops, military technical MOS, medical device field service — the specific industry matters less than the pattern: you were sent somewhere alone, you were the company's only representative in the room, and you never needed a manager standing behind you.
- You're detail-obsessed in a way that occasionally annoys people. Our reports get read by physicians and, sometimes, attorneys. A missed sample location or a mislabeled cassette isn't a small mistake here.
- You have real maturity. You'll be in the homes of people who are concerned and unwell. You need to be calm, kind, unhurried, and completely honest — including when the honest answer is "I don't know yet." Co-workers and managers are proud to have you on the team, and clients are thankful that YOU were the inspector who came to their home.
- You're steady under logistical chaos. Flights cancel. Crawlspaces and attics get hot. The homeowner forgot you were coming. You solve it calmly without complaining and move on because you're level-headed and see the big picture.
- You want to get deeply good at something. Mold and indoor environmental assessment at the hypersensitivity level is a real technical discipline. We'll train you on our methodology, and we expect you to keep getting sharper for years.
Who this isn't for
Someone looking for a stepping stone. Someone who needs daily supervision to stay on task. Someone who doesn't strive to improve their skills. - On-target earnings of $55,000–$65,000 annually in wages, before per diem
- Compensation: $28.85/hour for all hours worked on-site, with a reduced rate during travel time. Typical weeks run 35–45 hours, Monday through Friday.

Requirements
- 3+ years in a technical, field-based, client-facing role with demonstrated independence
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to rent vehicles
- Ability to fly regularly; no travel restrictions
- Physically capable of accessing crawlspaces, attics, and confined areas; comfortable on ladders; able to lift and carry an equipment kit through airports and job sites
- Strong written documentation skills and comfort with mobile/cloud-based reporting tools
- Professional appearance and communication — you are the company to every client you meet
- ACAC or equivalent certification; we sponsor certification for the right candidate

Pay: $54,695.73 - $65,870.13 per year
