EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Drive and maintain a transit route and schedule; transport passengers along route or to scheduled appointments; assist passengers in loading and unloading as needed; operate specialized loading and unloading equipment to assist wheelchair passengers in a safe and timely manner.Tactfully greet passengers; answer questions and provide information to the general public regarding transit schedules, rules, regulations, routes and other information; refer sensitive inquiries and complaints to appropriate staff.Collect, count and record transit revenues for assigned route; provide route information to passengers; prepare appropriate reports and daily manifests.Operate a two-way radio; report accidents and road hazards; provide staff support in accident investigations.Prepare and inspect assigned vehicle for daily operations; check and maintain fluid levels; perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs as necessary; maintain and submit vehicle mileage records as requested.Ensure safety regulations, rules and codes are enforced and obeyed by passengers in assigned vehicle; report persistent violators.Maintain contact with dispatch and report on current position and conditions affecting the operation of the route as required.For a complete job description, click here.
