The Vibe
We’re a café kitchen that takes food seriously and treats people with care. We hold high standards, communicate clearly, and don’t do drama. We value technique, teamwork, and calm leadership — especially when it’s busy.
We’re looking for a Cook who can confidently execute a café menu, and contribute to a small team of prep and line cooks, and grow into a lead role over time. If you care about craft, consistency, and building a kitchen people want to stay in, keep reading.
The Kind of Cook We’re Hoping to Find
You might be a unicorn if you:
- Can build sauces from scratch (classic and creative) and understand why they work
- Are comfortable with braising and layered flavor development
- Handle eggs confidently in a café setting
- Have experience making crêpes (preferred, not required)
- Respect café food as a craft, not “simple food done lazily”
What You’ll Do
- Execute café menu items with consistency, speed, and care
- Collaborate with a small team of prep and line cooks during shifts, setting the pace and tone
- Taste food, correct seasoning, and hold quality standards
- Teach techniques and kitchen best practices without ego
- Jump in where needed — we’re a small team and we help each other
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
- Contribute ideas for sauces, specials, seasonal items, and menu improvements
How We Work
- We follow recipes and understand technique
- We care deeply about sanitation, organization, and food safety
- We communicate clearly, especially during service
- We give and receive feedback respectfully
- We take care of each other — including staff meals cooked and shared as a team
What We Value
- Craft: Flavor, texture, and execution matter
- Standards: You notice when something’s off and fix it
- Leadership: You guide others calmly and clearly
- Team: You make the kitchen better for everyone
- Growth: You want to develop into a strong Sous Chef
Experience We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a cook in a café or kitchen environment
- Comfort leading or mentoring a small kitchen team (prep and jr line cooks)
- Strong communication and organization
- Ability to stay steady during busy services
- Food safety knowledge (ServSafe a plus; training supported)
Growth Path: Cook → Sous Chef
This role is designed to grow into Sous Chef, with increasing responsibility in:
- Shift leadership and team development
- Quality control and training
- Menu development and specials
- Food cost and kitchen systems
Advancement is based on readiness, consistency, and leadership — not just time served. We intend to expand our footprint, so the ideal candidate would be interested in being a future Sous Chef across multiple locations.
Why Work Here
- High standards without toxicity
- Real opportunity to grow and lead
- Staff meals — because feeding your team matters
- A respectful, supportive kitchen culture
If you’re a skilled cook who wants to lead well, learn deeply, and help build something solid, we’d love to hear from you.
