Position title: Driller’s Helper
Reports to: Driller Pay Range: $20-$30/hr.
Summary of position:
Entry-level to experienced worker whose primary job is to assist the driller with operation of on-site equipment in order to drill wells on clients properties in a safe and expedient manner.
Essential Functions:
- Assist driller with well drilling operations, rig mobilization, rig repairs, maintenance and improvements.
- Must quickly respond to changing drilling conditions in order to avoid damage or loss of equipment.
- Act independently to get job supplies in a safe and expedient manner.
- Must be able to legally operate a vehicle in a safe manner, change oil in equipment, access and egress driver’s seat unassisted, read and understand maps and remain alert for a continuous period of time while driving.
- Must learn from mistakes in order to avoid future reoccurrence of a certain type of mishap to include, near misses, accidents, misconduct and drawing false conclusions.
- Travel anywhere in the state of Nevada, to include overnight stays
- Maintain a 90% attendance rate in the first 90 days of employment (No more then 6.5 days absent for any reason)
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Skills, experience and education required:
- Must possess a valid class A or B driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English in both noisy and low visibility environments.
- Must be willing to learn to operate drilling rig and support equipment.
- Must know or be willing to learn how to operate a skid steer, forklift, excavator, backhoe and any other equipment commonly used on jobs.
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn and ability to complete tasks independently.
- Must enter data into a computerized database.
- Must be able to read and write the English language clearly.
- Must have high-school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able or willing to learn to stick weld 0.188 wall-thickness steel casing.
Physical Requirements:
- The physical ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds in awkward positions.
- Must be able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms, ladders or rig floors.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
- Personal protective equipment must be able to be worn every day.
- Position requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time with large amounts of bending, stooping, climbing and kneeling.
- Pass a drug test at any time, this includes screening for marijuana.
