Position: Armed Security Officer
GSS is currently seeking applicants for a full-time position. Hours are based on client needs and GSS is currently looking to fill overnight hours, 10PM – 6AM. Applicants must be able to work this shift consistently and on a regular basis. Shift work is required, and hours may fluctuate on occasion. Hours and days off will be decided and discussed upon interviews and hiring of the right candidate.
Applicants will undergo a background investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to obtain a Security Officer License from the City of Topeka, Kansas.
Upon hire, applicants will undergo annual firearms training and qualification following the Kansas CPOST firearms qualification standard. Annual firearms qualification and proficiency is required for this position.
Security Officer Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all patrons by patrolling and monitoring client property and personnel.
Effectively patrols client site; responds to calls/incidents, providing direction, guidance, and/or assistance as needed; serving as a liaison and reporting information to the Topeka Police Department and client management as needed; Thoroughly conducts investigations and takes control of situations safely when they arise.
Maintains accurate records and files by preparing written reports when incidents occur, or when directed to do so by a supervisor.
Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities and using proactive security tactics; informing guests or violators of policies and procedures if the need arises.
Security Officer Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact and work effectively with people at all levels in the company and client sites.
Demonstrate ability to make good judgments and independent decisions.
Ability to quickly respond to emergencies.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Experience:
5+ years experience in related field
Law Enforcement or Military background
