Performs general medical assistance such as taking and recording vital signs, observing symptoms, recording histories, and administering injections and medications under the direction of a physician.
Carries out or assists physician with diagnostic procedures or treatments.
Ensures accurate and complete medical records, e.g., obtains necessary information for preparing new records; ascertains credit and insurance information; obtains any missing reports, tests results, x-rays, and so forth.
Acts as receptionist for office; e.g., answers and screens phone calls, schedules and confirms appointments, takes messages, checks in patients.
Performs other clerical duties for office or clinical area such as supply requisitions, billing, and receiving and recording payments for services rendered.
Assists patients with problems encountered; assists in patient education.
Keeps rooms cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies.
Accesses computer/information system for retrieval or input of information.
Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react competently, and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of patient age groups served.
